Helen Piwnica-Worms, PhD, will present the first Wednesday Afternoon Lecture for the 2009-2010 season. As the Gerty T. Cori Professor of Cell Biology and Physiology at the Washington University in St. Louis and an investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Dr. Piwnica-Worms will present "Targeting Chk1 in Breast Cancer." "An Afternoon with Maya Angelou"


On September 23, 2009 the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, in partnership with the Office of Intramural Research, hosts Maya Angelou at 3 p.m. in Masur Auditorium. As a renowned poet, novelist, educator, actress and more, Angelou will present the annual J. Edward Rall Cultural Lecture as part of the Wednesday Afternoon Lecture Series. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Overflow seating will be available in Lipsett Amphitheater. An archived version of this lecture is not available.

CME credits will not be available for this lecture.

James Hildreth, MD, PhD, will present the Wednesday Afternoon Lecture on September 30, 2009. As director of the Center for AIDS Health Disparities Research, associate director of the Vanderbilt-Meharry Center for AIDS Research, program director for the Research Centers in Minority Institutions, and a professor of Internal Medicine at the Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, be sure to catch Dr. Hildreth's lecture at 3 p.m. in Masur Auditorium/Building 10 on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
